The changing landscape of health care in Canada is having and impact on Canadian neurosurgery and its future course. This session is designed to update participants on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to Canadian neurosurgery now and in the future. Topics to be presented include manpower issues, infrastructure and resource issues, and remuneration issues. Learner participation will be encouraged in the form of group discussion.

Learning Objectives:

  • At the end of this session participants will be able to gain an understanding of the manpower issues facing Canadian neurosurgery now and in the future.
  • At the end of this session participants will be able to gain an understanding of the infrastructure and resource issues facing Canadian neurosurgery now and in the future.
  • At the end of this session participants will be able to gain an understanding of differences between Canadian neurosurgery and American neurosurgery as it relates to practice structure and remuneration.
