Neurology (CNS) Day AM: Assessment and treatment of CNS Inflammatory Conditions

The course will review the typical CNS inflammatory conditions such as MS, NMO, MOGAD as well as the growing number of autoimmune CNS antibody mediated/associated conditions in terms of diagnosis and treatment. As the number of new immunotherapies such as immune checkpoint inhibitors or CAR-T cells have expanded, so have the neurological complications that can arise from their use. These too will be discussed and illustrated.

Learning Objectives:

  • Improve the understanding and differentiation of various CNS inflammatory demyelinating conditions (MS vs. NMOSD vs. MOGAD)
  • Appreciate that successful treatment of CNS inflammatory conditions relies on targeting specific pathomechanisms
  • Learn about the potential for neurological complications with newer immunotherapies such as immune checkpoint inhibitors or CAR-T cell therapy
