Society Day Course
This session focuses on improving the understanding and management of pediatric migraine and headache disorders through targeted insights into diagnosis, treatment, and emerging innovations. Participants will explore the unique diagnostic challenges posed by pediatric migraine, including age-specific symptoms, developmental factors, and psychosocial impacts, all of which influence treatment decisions. Evidence-based pharmacological treatments will be reviewed, covering oral medications, biologics like CGRP targeted therapies, and promising emerging therapies under investigation. The session will also highlight non-oral treatment approaches, such as injectable options (occipital nerve blocks, onabotulinum toxin A, acupuncture) and non-invasive wearable devices, including FDA-approved neurostimulation therapies like Cefaly. Additionally, participants will gain an understanding of non-migrainoid pediatric headache syndromes, focusing on differentiating them from migraines and addressing underlying factors such as tension-type headaches, cluster headaches, and post-traumatic headaches. This session aims to provide clinicians with comprehensive tools to optimize diagnosis, personalize treatment, and improve long-term outcomes for young patients.
