Neurosurgery (CNSS) Day: Complication Avoidance and Management in Neurosurgery - The Journey Continues

Based on the positive feedback from previous years, the "Neurosurgery Complications Course" is back. In this session participants will see presentations from neurosurgical colleagues highlighting patient cases where the surgeon had pre-operative or intra-operative, or post-operative complications (or perhaps some combination). Case topics covered will include vascular neurosurgery, tumor/skull base neurosurgery, spinal neurosurgery, pediatric neurosurgery and general neurosurgery. Audience participation will be encouraged. In addition this year, three neurosurgeon panelists will comment on the presented cases based on their years of experience!

Learning Objectives:

  • At the end of this session participants will be able to identify potential pre-operative scenarios that might lead to patient complications and how to mangage and/or avoid these.
  • At the end of this session participants will be able to identify potential intra-operative scenarios that might lead to patient complications and how to manage and/or avoid these.
  • At the end of this session participants will be able to identify potential post-operative scenarios that might lead to patient complications and how to manage and/or avoid these.
