Neurosurgery Residents': Skull Base Pathologies and Common Surgical Approaches – part 1

Neurosurgery residents are invited to come spend a day with Dr. Hnenny and other experienced colleagues to learn about common surgical approaches and skull base pathologies. There will be a combination of didactic and case-based teaching, with a focus on high-yield topics that you will surely encounter in residency and eventual independent practice. The morning session is devoted to surgical approaches, including a review of relevant anatomy and other technical considerations.

Learning Objectives:

  • By the end of this session, residents will be able to describe common surgical approaches to the skull base of the anterior and middle fossa, including indications, relevant anatomy, and technical pearls/pitfalls.
  • By the end of this session, residents will be able to describe common surgical approaches to the skull base of the posterior fossa, including indications, relevant anatomy, and technical pearls/pitfalls.
  • By the end of this session, residents will be able to describe endoscopic endonasal approaches to the skull base, including indications, relevant anatomy, and technical pearls/pitfalls.
